New Beijing travel show in 2005

BITTM, the Beijing International Travel & Tourism Market, is a new travel show slated for launch from April 20-23, 2005, to tap the burgeoning Chinese travel and tourism market.

Ms Stanislava Blagoeva-Duschell, the former head of ITE Travel Exhibitions and former director of MITT (Moscow International Travel and Tourism), is organising BITTM as chief executive officer of Rising Star Exhibitions.

Ms Blagoeva-Duschell said to TTG Daily News : Having in mind that China is such a popular destination for inbound tourism, and China is opening up on its legislation after joining the World Trade Organisation, China will open its borders for outbound for the Chinese people as well. Everybody is expecting that China will be the future in travel and tourism market in importance for the world.

On October 30 last year, China and the European Union (EU) signed a tourism agreement to facilitate the travel of Chinese tour groups to Europe. The authorised destination status (ADS) agreement will simplify visa procedures for Chinese tour groups to Europe. The China National Tourism Administration will be in charge of vetting potential tourists to Europe. China already has a bilateral ADS agreement with Germany since July 2002.

Right now, a lot of foreign destinations and airlines are opening offices in Beijing. There are issues in the legislation of China that need to be changed so all the destinations can be promoted evenly or equally on the market.

17 countries will now join this ADS status, having in mind that EU is now expanding. There will be more countries that Chinese people can visit, which is quite positive, on the aspect of developing the travel and tourism industry in China,Ms Blagoeva-Duschell said.

BITTM is a business-to-business platform for global and local industry professionals. Rising Star Exhibitions is formed by Tarsus Group and Rising Star Media Group.
